Why Should You Run This Test?

If you've found a stuck pixel — a tiny dot of constant color (usually red, green, or blue) that won't change — rapid color cycling is the most effective software-based fix. The rapid voltage changes can "unstick" the transistor controlling that pixel.

Stuck Pixel vs Dead Pixel

• Stuck pixel — Glows a constant color (red, green, blue, or white). The transistor is stuck in one state. Often fixable with color cycling.
• Dead pixel — Permanently black/dark. The transistor has completely failed. Not fixable via software — requires panel replacement.

When to Use This Tool

• You've identified a stuck pixel using white, black, or colored screen tests
• The pixel glows a constant color — it's not dead (black)
• The pixel appeared recently (stuck less than a few weeks has the highest fix rate)

What Causes Stuck Pixels?

Manufacturing Defects

• Transistor irregularity — Microscopic imperfections in the thin-film transistor (TFT) can cause a sub-pixel to get stuck in one voltage state.
• Liquid crystal alignment — The liquid crystals may get physically stuck in one orientation, blocking or allowing light for that sub-pixel.

Usage Factors

• Static images for extended periods — Displaying the same image for very long periods can temporarily stick a pixel (more common on older panels).
• Temperature extremes — Very cold or hot environments can affect liquid crystal behavior and cause temporary pixel sticking.
• Physical pressure — Pressing on the screen can cause temporary or permanent pixel issues.

Age & Wear

• Panel aging — As displays age, the likelihood of pixel defects increases. Stuck pixels are more common after 3-5 years of heavy use.

How to Read Your Results

Step-by-Step Stuck Pixel Fix Guide

Method 1: Color Cycling (This Tool)

1. Set speed to 0.1s or 0.2s for maximum stimulation.
2. Click Start Cycle and go fullscreen.
3. Run for 20-30 minutes minimum.
4. Exit and check the pixel using white, black, and colored screens.
5. If not fixed, repeat for 2-3 sessions per day over several days.

Method 2: Pressure + Cycling

1. Identify the stuck pixel location precisely using a colored screen.
2. Turn off your monitor.
3. Place a soft, damp cloth over the stuck pixel area.
4. Apply gentle pressure with a fingertip or the eraser end of a pencil (through the cloth).
5. While maintaining pressure, turn the monitor back on and run this color cycle.
6. Release pressure after 10 seconds. Check the pixel.

Method 3: Tapping (Last Resort)

• Gently tap the stuck pixel area with a fingertip while displaying a solid color. This can physically jar the stuck liquid crystals. Use very light pressure — too much force can damage the panel.

When to Give Up

• If the pixel remains stuck after 3+ days of cycling attempts, it's likely a permanent defect. Check your manufacturer's dead/stuck pixel warranty policy — many will replace panels with more than a certain number of defective pixels.
