How to run this check
- Step 1
Prepare the screen
Clean and dry the glass. Disconnect accessories and, if practical, remove a tight case or lifting screen protector.
- Step 2
Map the whole surface
Trace every coverage cell and edge slowly, then draw continuous lines in both directions.
- Step 3
Check unwanted input
Run the hands-off ghost-touch timer without touching the phone or moving the charging cable.
- Step 4
Record the result
Use the report to note which checks passed and which symptom you could reproduce.
How to check an iPhone touch screen
An iPhone has no universal dialler code that opens a browser-style touch map. This page uses the touch events Safari actually receives, making it useful before buying a used phone, after a screen repair, or when one strip of the display stops responding.
Rule out simple causes first
Clean moisture from the glass, disconnect an unfamiliar charger, restart the phone and test without a tight case. A damaged or poorly fitted protector can also reduce edge response. If the symptom disappears after one change, repeat the same test before deciding the display assembly is faulty.
What to look for
- Untouched cells in the same strip suggest a repeatable dead zone.
- Broken drawing lines show where Safari stopped receiving movement.
- Points appearing during the hands-off check are consistent with unwanted input, but one clean run does not rule out an intermittent problem.
- Missing multi-touch points may reflect the browser or gesture reserved by iOS, not only hardware.
