Why a leave calculator matters

Most employees lose money every year by forgetting to use their earned leave or by missing the carry-forward cut-off. This leave calculator shows your remaining balance, usage %, monthly safe limit and a planning suggestion so you can use leaves intentionally.

Leave types in India / global

  • Earned Leave (EL) / Privilege Leave (PL): 15 – 30 days/year. Usually carry-forward and encashable.
  • Casual Leave (CL): 5 – 12 days/year. Lapses if unused.
  • Sick Leave (SL): 5 – 12 days/year. Often needs a doctor's note above 2 days.
  • Maternity Leave: 26 weeks (India), 12+ weeks (US/EU varies).
  • Paternity Leave: 5 – 30 days depending on employer.
  • Comp-off: One-day off granted for working on a holiday/weekend.

Smart leave planning

The calculator returns a monthly balance — divide remaining leaves by months left so you don't cluster everything in December. Pair single leaves with long weekends to maximize travel days. Use the PTO Planner for vacation planning around public holidays.
